Hiring a CFO is wasted money.
Sorry, let me rephrase. Hiring a CFO 'too early' is wasted money. You don't need to rush to hire one when you business is too small.
Most founders who hire a CFO early, they end up paying 80-90 lakhs a year and then they still find themselves chasing cash flow updates on WhatsApp.
You don't need that.
↳ At 0–10 Cr, all you need is clean books.
↳ At 10–50 Cr, an analyst and a part-time CFO on call.
↳ At 50–100 Cr, yes, a CFO should lead, but still fractional.
↳ At 100–200 Cr, you’ll need almost full-time attention.
↳ Only after 200 Cr it make sense to bring one on board.
Use this as a thumb rule to avoid deadweight hires, and get the right finance at the right time
